Texas State University Constructs Engineering and Science Building

Texas State University is building the $120 million Bruce and Gloria Ingram Hall on its San Marcos campus. Designed by TreanorHL and Alamo Architects, the five-story, 122,665-sf facility will provide a makerspace, collaborative teaching and research labs, classrooms, study areas, and a robotics and welding studio. Ground was broken on the multidisciplinary project in August of 2016 and completion is expected in summer of 2018.

University of Sussex Plans Life Sciences Facility

The University of Sussex is planning to build the £60 million Life Sciences Building in Brighton in the United Kingdom. Designed by Hawkins Brown Architects, the 183,000-sf project includes the renovation of an existing genome research building and construction of a five-story addition housing technology-rich classrooms and collaborative laboratories for research and teaching. The sustainably designed facility will feature natural materials, green roofs, and internal courtyard atriums.

University of Tampa Plans Graduate and Health Studies Building

The University of Tampa is planning to construct the 90,000-sf Graduate and Health Studies Building to accommodate programs in nursing and allied health professions. Designed by Beck Architecture and KWJ Architects, the six-story facility will also provide smart classrooms, simulation suites, conference rooms, faculty and administrative offices, health science labs, and study spaces. LEED sustainable design certification will be sought for the project, which is slated for completion in fall of 2018.

North Central College Opens Science Center

North Central College celebrated the opening of the $60 million Science Center in March of 2017. Located in Naperville, Ill., the four-story, 125,000-sf facility will support progressive pedagogies for STEM education programs in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Designed by Holabird & Root, the multidisciplinary building provides 18 teaching labs, 16 research labs, 15 seminar classrooms, 19 student gathering areas, 53 faculty and staff offices, a lecture hall, and a greenhouse.

Designed by ZGF Architects, the two-story, 77,000-sf facility provides lecture halls, collaboration spaces, and 20 laboratories to support STEM programs in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Designed by Montgomery Sisam Architects and Fielden Clegg Bradley Studios, the CAD$200 million facility will feature TEAL classrooms for technology-enhanced active learning, a two-story atrium offering abundant natural light, a 500-seat auditorium, and studios for design, fabrication, and prototyping.

Erie Community College is constructing a $30 million academic building to accommodate programs in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Designed by Kideney Architects and built by Turner Construction, the two-story facility is located on the North Campus in Williamsville, N.Y. The 57,000-sf building will provide classrooms, labs, prep rooms, study lounges, faculty offices, a café, and a tutoring hub. Construction began in August of 2016 and occupancy is expected in January of 2018.

Texas Tech University broke ground on the $77 million Experimental Sciences Building II in February of 2017 in Lubbock, Texas. Designed by TreanorHL to support interdisciplinary research, the collaborative 117,000-gsf facility will provide four general wet labs, three core instrumentation suites, two synthetic labs, a vivarium, a BSL-2 lab, conference rooms, and offices for researchers and principal investigators. The construction manager for the LEED-certified facility, which comprises four stories and a basement, is Project Control.

Designed by The S/L/A/M Collaborative, the 195,000-sf facility comprises 129,000 sf of logistics and manufacturing space, 15,000 sf of testing labs, and 51,000 sf of office space. BELIMO is a Switzerland-based company engaged in the development, production, and marketing of actuators, valves, and sensor solutions for controlling heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems.
