The University of Pittsburgh and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center are building the Immune Transplant and Therapy Center in Bloomfield. Developed in partnership with Wexford Science & Technology, the $250 million project involves the transformation of a former Ford assembly plant and showroom into an eight-story innovation hub accommodating research on immunotherapy, cancer, chronic diseases, aging, and transplantation. Designed by ZGF Architects, the center will provide flexible research labs, offices, collaboration spaces, a 250-seat auditorium, and a multipurpose atrium. The existing 205,000-sf structure, which is undergoing a complete renovation, will be expanded with the construction of a 150,000-sf laboratory tower and a 325-car parking garage. The 355,000-sf complex will include 108,000 sf of leasable space. Occupancy is expected in fall of 2021.
