The University of Texas at San Antonio opened San Pedro II in April of 2026 in the city’s downtown technology corridor to fuel innovation, education, and research. Designed by Gensler and OVERLAND Partners, the $131 million facility features flexible and reconfigurable spaces for the College of AI, Cyber and Computing, including classrooms, teaching labs, and meeting areas. The 180,000-sf building accommodates interdisciplinary and collaborative academic programs, creating a unique environment that expands students’ opportunities for immersive learning and professional development.

The seven-story structure also houses the Harvey E. Najim Innovation District, a business and industry incubator that empowers students to gain entrepreneurial skills and launch new startups. The USAA Student Success Center is accompanied by the Center for Civic and Community-Engaged Leadership, and the Valero Engagement Center serves as a vibrant hub for events and conferences in the urban core. Indoor areas are seamlessly linked with outdoor venues and green spaces to enhance occupant wellbeing. Turner Construction was the general contractor for the facility, which was supported by $52 million in state funding. Ground was broken in October of 2023.

The sustainable project was designed to work in tandem with programs and initiatives based at the School of Data Science and the National Security Collaboration Center, which are colocated in a companion building, San Pedro I. Together, the two facilities catalyze economic growth and connect talent to industry, government, and community partners. As envisioned in the university’s master plan, 10,000 students will live, attend classes, and conduct research in the San Pedro Creek development by 2028.
