The University of Connecticut is constructing a new home for the Elisabeth DeLuca School of Nursing in Storrs. Designed by Ayers Saint Gross and Amenta Emma Architects, the 90,000-gsf building will offer a unified environment to enhance healthcare education and catalyze interdisciplinary research. The $100 million project will support increased enrollment and enable the delivery of innovative pedagogies to drive student success.
Specialized simulation suites will be complemented by high-fidelity clinical labs, human behavior research labs, and wet labs, while the ground floor will be anchored by flexible classrooms, collaboration zones, and a maker space. The adaptable facility will also house a lecture hall, a learning center, offices, and areas for future growth.
Positioned with strategic proximity to existing clinical, academic, and research facilities on campus, the five-story development will include outdoor gathering areas, green infrastructure for stormwater management, and native landscaping. Lee Kennedy Company is acting as construction manager and Langan is the civil, geotechnical, and environmental engineer. Substantial completion is expected by fall of 2026.
