The University of Kansas Cancer Center broke ground in May of 2025 on a visionary complex that will collocate groundbreaking biomedical research with world-class patient care in Kansas City. Designed by HDR and Hoefer Welker, the $450 million facility will deliver a comprehensive array of services in a single integrated location, as well as providing direct access to leading-edge clinical trials. This global destination for healing will enable physician-scientists, investigators, and clinical staff to collaborate in real time to create personalized treatment options.

The 675,000-sf project will feature state-of-the-art laboratories for basic, translational, clinical, and population research, as well as core facilities and a large vivarium. An onsite GMP lab will expedite the production of CAR T-cell therapies, lowering manufacturing costs and optimizing patient outcomes by reducing delays. Delivered by JE Dunn Construction, the transformative development will consolidate personnel, equipment, and operations previously dispersed in multiple locations.

The University of Kansas Cancer Center is designated as a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the National Cancer Institute (NCI).
