Rowan University opened the Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine in October of 2025 on its West Campus in Mullica Hill, N.J. Supported by $75 million in state funding, the pioneering facility addresses an increased national demand for veterinary professionals and advances the wellbeing of animals and humans in alignment with the One Health initiative. The academic portion of the 177,000-sf complex is equipped with the latest technologies and features large auditoriums, classrooms, breakout study rooms, perimeter collaboration alcoves, preclinical laboratories, and surgical venues.

Creating unique opportunities for experiential learning through rotations with affiliated institutions, the animal hospital accommodates an open-format surgery gallery that enables students to observe procedures up close, bridging the gap between theory and clinical application. A community practice center offers specialized services in oncology, ophthalmology, dermatology, cardiology, and exotic animal care. Standing four stories high, the vibrant structure houses 60,000 sf of leading-edge biomedical research space for the Virtua Health College of Medicine & Life Science Research Center. Modular wet and dry labs provide ample visibility to showcase scientific discoveries.

Erdy McHenry Architecture’s design for the project ensures future adaptability in response to evolving programmatic needs while maximizing interdisciplinary connection through strategic departmental adjacencies and key operational flows. LF Driscoll leveraged virtual design and construction (VDC) modalities and Lean construction principles to deliver the transformative development on an accelerated timeline. David Mason + Associates (DMA) served as structural engineer with Pennoni as civil engineer.
