Coriell Institute for Medical Research broke ground in October of 2025 on a 92,000-sf life sciences campus in Camden. Created in partnership with NJEDA, the Lewis L. Coriell Medical Research Center will advance the frontiers of biomedical science to catalyze critical breakthroughs in cancer treatment, stem cell technology, epigenetics, and drug discovery.
The $95 million facility will house the state of New Jersey's newest Strategic Innovation Center on the top two levels, which will offer 45,000 sf of leading-edge wet lab and incubator space for emerging biotech companies. Tenants will benefit from access to core facilities, corporate suites, and a vivarium. Fostering connections with industry affiliates, this sophisticated hub will also accommodate scientists from higher education institutions including Rutgers University and Rowan University to drive further collaboration.
The remainder of the four-story structure will be home to the Coriell Institute’s new headquarters, R&D operations, and a biorepository, as well as the Camden Cancer Research Center and six biobanks for the National Institutes of Health. Scheer Partners is the project developer, with FIFTEEN supplying architectural expertise and Concord Engineering Group as MEP/FP engineer. Occupancy is anticipated in early 2028.
